What does corporal punishment have to do with bullies?
Q. I heard that corporal punishment is the reason why children bully others, but why? What is it in corporal punishment that turned the children bad?
Asked by mysterious i - Tue Feb 6 09:05:09 2007 - - 7 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Nothing, spanking has been done for generations with positive effects. Bulling is when children are screaming for attention. If a parent uses spanking along with lots of quality time and love, I can grantee you that child will be better off. Bulling is a result of lack of quality time children receive from their parents.

A. Corporal punishment is spanking or slapping[hitting]. Child abuse is ANY kind of punishment that leaves welts, marks, scars, or bruises. If you have bruises, marks, or scars you are being Abused---find help. Go to your school counselor, or teacher and tell them what is going on. Go to your local child and family services and show them the bruises. You can call 1-8---child abuse and report the abuse yourself. Keep talking til someone hears you---your life may depend on it.

A. Good question. Like most topics, you can find Biblical support for either side if you look hard enough. Shakespeare once wrote, the devil can cite Scripture for his purpose. That said, there are many passages in the Old Testament that support capital punishment, often for relatively mild offenses: - Adultery (Leviticus 20:10) - Blasphemy (Leviticus 24:16) - Breaking the Sabbath (Exodus 31:14 & 15) - Disobedient children (Exodus 21:15 & 17; Leviticus 20:9) - Homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13) - Not being a virgin on your wedding night (but only if you're a woman - Deuteronomy 22:20-21) Some people cite Romans 13:1-7, which states that all governments are sanctioned by God, and if the government dictates something like capital… [cont.]

Do you believe that Corporal Punishment is a good thing?
Q. What are your thoughts about Corporal Punishment? Do you believe that it is the parent(s) responsibility to be the punisher?
Asked by Lynn - Tue May 19 04:14:21 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Well to a certain extent i would say it depends on culture, if it's abt western countries it's heavily frowned upon so even if the child does deserve it it could lead to legal shows which leave the kid feeling like the one in power. Children of a certain age do act up unnecessarily it's just hormones but they need to understand that they cannot do what ever they want and get away with it makes them think they dnt have to respect others and leads to many psychological problems in one's later life. Again excessive 'beatings' or 'hitting' will just have the opposite effect, rebelliousness and rage develops in the child in question, instead various other punishments should be used, and corporal punishment only in extreme cases.

What's the Difference Between Corporal Punishment and Child Abuse? Is There a Line between the 2?
Q. I'm 15 and my mother used to give me spanking and stuff like that and my dad used the belt twice but i never really saw it as abuse. A. The line in most jurisdictions is whether it leaves a mark. A welt or a bruise would be enough. Even redness that stays for a while might be enough to warrant an investigation by protective services.

Is it true that some teenagers prefer corporal punishment? If yes, why?
Q. I've read in some internet forums that there are some teenagers out there that prefer receiving corporal punishment rather than other punishments, such as grounding or restrictions. This I find hard to believe. Are there really teenagers out there that do prefer being spanked than grounded? If there are, why? Don't they realize that it can cause injuries, both physically and mentally. Also, don't they realize that it's illegal to strike teenagers in some places in that matter? This is a legitimate question, please give legitimate answers.
Asked by t_raudenbush - Wed May 14 21:19:04 2008 - - 6 Answers - 0 Comments
A. They seem to prefer corporal for one of two reasons. The practical one is that when it's over, it's over, and they can go on with their lives, ipods, cells, video games, etc., as opposed to being on restriction for weeks at a time. The other reason is that their parents may be so distant that hitting or spanking is the only physical contact they have with their parents, the only sign that their parents know they exist. Some even grow up thinking that hitting is the normal way of showing affection for someone. Very sad.

Q. Can anyone give me sources on where I can find answers to the question why is corporal punishment illegal and what are alternative punishments that can replace them?

A. Depending on WHERE you are located corporal punishment may or may not be illegal in schools, or even by parents. like I always say. If a person can not raise a well minded dog that obeys then how can they raise a child? What can replace a good spanking at times, sometimes nothing? Grounding, limiting activities or removal of activities- (EX: You are not going to the movies with your friends today and you will not go out over the weekend.). Taking away personal items- What is a child to do today without his XBOX? That probably hurts more than anything to today s TV addicted children. There are many ways to have alternate punishments. Kids cussing? They d be cleaning toilets, potty mouth. Not respecting others possessions. [cont.]

People in the UK, should corporal punishment be reinstated in schools?
Q. Corporal punishment in British state schools has been banned since 1986, and it began being phased out in private schools in 1999. Today, it's banned throughout the country. Many teachers have reported a collapse of disciplinary standards since the ban and 1 in 5 support reinstating it. Do you agree with this sentiment, and if you do, what other reasons can you give? A. Do you know the reason why it was stopped in British schools? One parent took a case to the European Court of Human Rights (before anyone says anything, this court is nothing to do with the EU, and European countries which are not in the EU have agreed to be bound by this non-EU court.) She was attempting to ensure that she could withdraw her child from being included in potential corporal punishment. She won. The school, and the country, now had a problem. Can a school keep a list of children whose parents say must not be given corporal punishment, and a list of those who can? A system like that would never work and would not be fair. Seeing problems on the horizon, and a potential glut of cases in the ECHR, the UK government decided… [cont.]

A. To smack a child on the rump is fine. But if you think adults in the military and prison system should be beaten you are a sick, perverted individual. Surely you know many guards in the prison system only want their jobs because they get off on being in power and hurting victims who are unable to defend themselves. I can't even address your assertions that it should be allowed in the military. You obviously were an abuse victim and need some serious psychiatric help. Pain infliction doesn't solve problems, it causes and perpetuates them.

what does corporal punishment have to do with peer pressure?
Q. I saw a website that said peer pressure is an effect of corporal punishment but why? what is it in peer pressure that makes it an effect of corporal punishment?
Asked by mysterious i - Tue Feb 6 09:53:09 2007 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Corporal punishment has nothing to do with peer pressure. Peer pressure is causing kids (youth) to commit more violent crimes, because it is more important to listen to their friends rather than listen to their parents or law enforement. To make our cities safe law makers plan on making the punishments more harsh.

A. I went to grammar school in the 60's and corporal punishment was administered the school Principal used a wooden paddle and made you bend over and grab your ankles, she was a I believe a dominatrix who loved to spank young children (mostly me), I got spanked twice a week for stupid stuff that all kids do. It was outlawed before I reached 5th grade but there was a 6th grade teacher with a cane and he used to hit children with his cane on their legs...and that really hurt!

Don't you think that corporal punishment in schools should be banned altogether?
Q. I know that according to the law (in loco parentis), the teachers fulfill the role of the parents while the kids are in school. However, there are some teachers and principals who go WAY overboard when administering corporal punishment. I have seen pictures on the Internet of kids with bruises and welts on their bottoms that resulted from paddlings in school. And not only that, but research has actually shown that paddling isn't an effective deterrent to bad behavior. Also, paddlings have been known to cause back problems for the victims years down the road. And even if the legal system does state that the teachers and the principals fulfill the role of the parents in the schools, the fact of the matter is that they are NOT the parents of… [cont.]

A. yes. it should be banned. anyone who said that it shouldn't be wasn't in the right mind or else doesn't have moral. look at the children's right at the United Nations website. they're all there. it is considered illegal now to punish a child physically, especially that paddling which can cause severe damages especially if the paddler was so overwhelmed by his.her emotion that can cause her to strike harder. paddling is also used if you are going to enter a fraternity, many of college guys died because of paddling, search for it too. if you ever saw something like that again, or even any form of physical punishment being done to a child (18 and below are considered), then you should report it through the authorities. but search for it too, [cont.]
